George Russell was born in King’s Lynn, England, in 1998. He won the GP3 title in 2017 and the Formula 2 championship in 2018 as a Mercedes junior, then made his F1 debut with Williams in 2019.
He spent three seasons at Williams, standing in for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes for the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, before joining Mercedes full time in 2022. He won his first Grand Prix in Brazil that year and has added further victories since, including Canada and Singapore in 2025. He races for Mercedes in 2026 alongside Kimi Antonelli.
