Alpine

Alpine is the latest name for the Enstone team that began life as Toleman in 1981. It became Benetton in 1986, and Michael Schumacher won the drivers’ titles in 1994 and 1995, adding the constructors’ crown in 1995. As Renault it took both championships in 2005 and 2006 with Fernando Alonso, then raced as Lotus from 2012 to 2015 before Renault returned. Rebranded Alpine in 2021, it won that year’s Hungarian Grand Prix with Esteban Ocon.

From 2026 Alpine runs as a Mercedes customer team after Renault ended its own engine programme. Executive adviser Flavio Briatore leads the team, with Steve Nielsen as managing director, and the race line-up is Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto.
