About Audi
Audi entered Formula 1 in 2026 by taking over Sauber, the Swiss team Peter Sauber brought into F1 in 1993. Sauber ran as BMW Sauber from 2006 to 2009, when Robert Kubica won the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix, and later raced as Alfa Romeo and Stake/Kick Sauber. Nico Hülkenberg’s third place at Silverstone in 2025 was the team’s first podium since 2012.
The chassis is built in Hinwil, Switzerland, while Audi develops its own power unit at Neuburg an der Donau in Germany. Mattia Binotto, head of the Audi F1 project, took on the team principal role after Jonathan Wheatley left in March 2026. The drivers are Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
